Economic Council of the Government of the Czech Republic recommends a regulated cannabis market

 

The proposal from the National Economic Council (NERV) of the Czech Republic includes the introduction of a legally regulated cannabis market as part of its strategy to stimulate economic growth in the country.

NERV's statement reflects a significant shift in government policy toward cannabis, advocating for a more pragmatic and economical approach. The Council argues that drug enforcement places a considerable financial burden on the State without significantly reducing consumption or minimizing the associated harms.

This is not the first time that NERV has proposed regulating the cannabis market. Already in November 2022, in its first series of measures to reduce state spending and increase revenue, the council expressed its support for this initiative.
