This 2022 medical literature review concluded that cannabis use does not cause COPD and is also unlikely to be the cause of lung cancer. This is different from tobacco use, which is clearly linked to both COPD and lung cancer. The review authors in particular caution against use by younger individuals due to potential negative effects on the developing brain.
