Spain: Government has not regulated medical cannabis in 2022 within the deadline given by Congress

January 10, 2023 from Cannabis Magazine

The Ministry of Health assures that it is finalizing the regulation, for which the Chamber gave it a period of six months that has concluded this week

2022 ends and everything remains the same. The six-month deadline that the Congressional Health Commission gave the Government to regulate the medicinal use of cannabis ended this week and the progressive coalition Executive has not yet approved anything about it. The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) of the Ministry of Health, in charge of regulation, has assured Público that it is working on the issue, although without clarifying when it will be ready. Industry organizations and parliamentary groups are suspicious about this delay and the final result of legalization.
