The Economic, Social and Environmental Council (EESC), an advisory body that advises the Government and Parliament, voted on Tuesday 24 January in favour of a supervised legalisation of cannabis.
During a plenary assembly, 2 EESC rapporteurs unveiled the main lines of the draft opinion “Cannabis: moving out of the status quo, towards supervised legalisation”.
The EESC’s work is based on 10 months of research and hearings in order, as a first step, to take stock of current public policies and explore the impact of their evolution, from the status quo to legalisation and decriminalisation. It is a great reminder of the work of the Cannabis Fact-Finding Mission which resulted in global inaction on CBD, medical cannabis and medical cannabis.
